The Legenderry Food website was a project undertaken by Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) to help local food retailers promote their brand, its products and experiences through an all-encompassing website. DCSDC wanted to create a web platform that would showcase local retailers and their products in a new and engaging way. The primary purpose of the website was to entice people from across Northern Ireland and the rest of the World to visit Derry-Londonderry to access the niche foodie experiences offered in and around the city. DCSDC wanted to design and develop a bespoke web platform that would fully showcase the different products and experiences provided by each retailer in a fun but functional way allowing users to get a taste of what the city has to offer.

The Legenderry Food network is a group of talented producers, growers, chefs, brewers and restauranters based in and around Derry-Londonderry who are all dedicated to delivering world class products and experiences. DCSDC wanted to design and develop a website that would ultimately be a showcase of the high-quality products and experiences offered by everyone in this group. The Legenderry brand had already been created by a 3rd party company, which meant we were tasked with bringing the brand to life online, whilst also making the website highly accessible to all types of user. DCSDC had done many photo sessions with members of the network prior to us designing the website and they were keen that we use this imagery to really bring this website to life and to portray the friendly and welcoming ethos of Derry-Londonderry. A key factor in this project was also that the website should be fully mobile responsive to ensure it was easily accessible whilst on the go.


DCSDC now have a website that is mobile responsive that has been approached using ‘mobile first’ methodology and is fully in line with the brand guidelines provided. We have also delivered a content management system that will allow the team at DCSDC to add, edit and delete content/imagery on the website as and when required, keeping it fresh moving forward. The new website includes information about, venues, events, producers, and experiences giving users as much information as possible about the network. We have designed a website that aims to tell the story of how each niche offering came to be, by using photography to fully portray to users of the website what their experience could be like if they visited a member of the network.
