In a digital era where efficiency is paramount, the Digicom Customs project, a collaborative effort between Derry Bros Customs Clearance (DBCC) and Scaffold Digital, showcases the impact of innovative IT solutions on customs clearance processes.

This project was initiated to simplify cross-border transactions between Ireland, Great Britain, and Europe while ensuring strict compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks. The result is a fully bespoke web platform developed by Scaffold Digital that has streamlined the process of getting goods across borders in a time of such uncertainty.

OBJECTIVES

Due to Brexit and the Northern Ireland protocol, the shipping industry changed overnight.

This meant that it was a race to the market for DBCC to get a software platform ready to service hauliers’ needs before any international companies. Working together in close collaboration, we have been able to design, develop, and deploy a system that creates, tracks, and manages customs declarations for hauliers all over Europe.

THE OUTCOME

The success of Digicom Customs stems from its innovative approach to customs clearance. The project introduced a revolutionary job portal that drastically reduced entry time by eliminating previous complexities and offering time-saving data import processes.

The bespoke Laravel-built Digicom platform features a user-centric interface and integrates seamlessly with TSS, Irish Revenue, and CDS, facilitating smooth data transfer essential for accurate and timely customs declarations.

Executed using an Agile methodology, the project involved constant collaboration with the client to ensure the platform’s effectiveness and adaptability to regulatory changes. The Digicom Customs platform offers significant benefits by drastically reducing processing times and costs, enhancing operational efficiency, and enabling direct transport routes for substantial economic and environmental gains.
